Today Charlotte is 28 weeks! I'm sure y'all are just as confused as I am about this whole age thing unless you've experienced either yourself or with somebody else. We got a call last night at 12:30AM telling us that they has to put in a new chest tube, but everything was fine and if anything changed they'd call me. Really, I wish they wouldn't have called in the first place because if she was "ok" after the fact that they put the tube in, don't give me a heart attack calling to say she's ok.
Daddy went and visited her early in the morning like he usually does when he takes the day off. Her kidney function improved, her oxyen through her respirator was down to 21% and her belly wasn't so swelled.
Well, when we got to the hospital around 5pm we were excited to see her eyes were wide open, of course until I kept tryin to take a picture. She was squirming and squiggling everywhere and that happiness soon turned to worry. She had been taken down in dosage and in frequency of her morphine (from every 4 hours to every 6). I could tell it wasn't her being happy, but something seemed wrong. She looked like she tried to yell out a cry a few times (she can't because of the tubes). She also looked like she was tryin hard to suck in air from the appearance of her chest as she inhaled. She'd clinch her fists and kick like crazy. They upped her morphine a tad just to get her to calm down. She also had to up her oxygen to 33% and it had been down to 21% all day. Her nurse called the resident to get his opinion because I just wasn't feeling comfortable and frankly I don't think she was either she just didn't tell us that. After looking over her stats, asking a few questions he ordered a chest xray stat. We had to leave of course because with any procedures going on in the room they make you leave until they are done. Turns out one of her tubes had the tiniest leak at her skin so they sewed it closed a little. Her xray came back completely fine (we seen it too). We went back to check on her one more time before we left and she was much more rested. We got to watch them change her diaper for the first time tee hee.
Her blood pressure when we got there was 41/23 (I forgot to check it before we left) her MAP went from 30 when we first got there (remember, they want it 30 or above) to 45 when we left so much better. And her oxygen level was at 94 and they want that as close to 100 as possible, but over 88. As soon as I learn what exactly all these numbers mean, because there are many more, I will let y'all know so you can see her progress in detail. Not to mention a NICU expert ;)
I went to my doctor today for a follow up on what is suspected as a uterine infection. I am able to mov around more so she said she won't admit me (good thing cuz it wasn't flyin with me) and I will continue my antibotics. My temp was slightly elevated so she is checkin my white blood count again. I go back again on Tuesday.
