I went to see Charlotte last night and was a little afraid at first because my husband had went to see her he said she wasn't looking good and looked swollen. I knew I had to go because it had been a few days since I seen her and she needed to hear me. She looked great to me! She was a tad swollen according to the nurse, but after not seeing her for a bit I did't really notice. And I was sooo excited when I put my pinky finger into her hand she squeezed it.
CONFUSION #1: Earlier in the day the doctor had called and said they were going to start her on antibotics because she had an infection around one of her chest tubes. When I asked the nurse about it she said there was nothing written up about that and she knew nothing about it. She said it was protocol that when they take blood cultures, which they did yesterday, they automatically put them on an antibotic because it takes a week to get the results back.
CONFUSION #2: The doctor also had told me that if she pooped yesterday they would start her feedings again. According to her nurse she had not pooped at the point I went to see her, yet she said that didn't matter that they are feeding her 1cc every 3 hours now instead of every 4.
Could somebody get their story straight please?!?!? Welp they will today because I need this confusion resolved..
Charlotte had been on 40% oxygen, but was lowered to about 25% during the day. Her oxygen level had been anywhere from 94-100 which means they probably dropped it again sometime during the night. They want her oxygen level to stay above 88. They did give her some lasiks (sp?) yesterday to help with her fluid retention and she had a great size pee pee diaper at 8pm. Hopefully that continues to work for her. So we'll see how Miss Charlotte is doing today. I'm going to go get ready so I can see her before Daddy comes to pick me up because I get to go home today.
